Parish Fair Grounds, Livestock Barn, DeRidder

This year’s “Pet Show & Pet Photography Field Day” will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 9:00a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds in DeRidder. Achievement Day contests that will be covered are: Pet Care, Dog Care, Rabbits, Vet Science and Pet Photography Photos.There will be educational activities covering the Achievement Day contests mentioned above. All 4-H’ers are welcome to attend, even if you do not have a pet or do not bring yours to the field day.

Live Pets can again be brought to this Field Day. Categories for the Pet Show include:Dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits, hamsters, snakes, and any other small pet.

There will be a “Pet Parade” in the covered pavilion, therefore, all animals must be on a leash or in a cage and should be healthy and up-to-date on all veterinary recommended vaccines. If your animal is not friendly and well-behaved, leave them at home! Be sure to groom your pet and be prepared to “show off” your pet in the ring.You can utilize this opportunity to show off your pet’s special talents and obedience.Must have Pet’s name on registration form at the end of this page.If water bowls are not provided for your pet, your pet will be disqualified and will need to be taken home.

This year, we will again have a “Pet Photo” Contest, with the following categories for Elementary, Jr. High, and Sr. High Divisions:Dog, Cat, Bird, Fish, Rabbit and Any Other Pet.There will be a Black and White and Color Photo Division for each of these pet categories.We will also have guest speakers and give pet related test for awards at Achievement Day.

Each 4-H'er may enter a set of only five (5) photos of each different type of animal. Example: 5 pictures of cats on 1 poster, 5 pictures of dogs on 1 poster, etc. If more than 5 photos for each animal are turned in, that photo set will be disqualified.Place name first and last, age, grade and school/club on the back of each poster entered.

Your photos for each pet are to be mounted on a separate “Half” sheet of poster board with captions beneath the photos.On the back of the poster give your name first and last, age, grade, and club.Also add what your pet is (type of dog, cat, fish, rabbit, etc.), name of your pet(s), describe its color, its size (how tall, how much it weighs, etc.) and any other information you would like to add.

Be creative with your photos.Pets can be dressed in a cute costume, doing tricks, etc. No cropped or cut pictures will be allowed – pictures must be no larger than 4” X 6”. You may use photos printed from your computer on photo paper.

The photos of your pet(s) are to be brought to the field day, and they will be judged either during or after the activities for the day.Do not turn them in before the field day.

All 4-H activities are open to all 4-H Youth regardless of age, sex, race or religion.If you are interested, contact the 4-H office for a registration form and return it to the 4-H Office by September 23rd, along with $3.00 for refreshments and insurance. No cash accepted – checks or money orders must be made out to Beauregard 4-H Foundation.
