4-H Horse Shows

The 4-H Horse Shows will be rapidly approaching, and now is the time to begin preparing for the Parish, District and State Horse Shows. Exhibitors must have possession of their horses prior to April 1, 2021.

All registered horses must be officially registered in the name of the 4-H club member or an immediate family member on or before April 1, 2021. To show a grade horse (non-registered horse), the 4-H’er must submit a certificate of ownership to the St. Landry 4-H Office by March 22, 2021. Grade horse certificates can be obtained from the 4-H Office.

Animals are not provided by 4-H. Families must purchase the animal(s) for 4-H’ers to show. Interested 4-H’ers should contact Megan Plattsmier at 337-948-0561 for more information.

4-H Is Heart Smart Door Decorating Campaign

February is National Heart Month. February 8-12, 2021 is “4-H Is Heart Smart” Door Decorating Week. 4-H clubs, that wish to participate, can decorate one door which captures the true sense of 4-H pride along with being “heart smart” (physical activity, eating right, stress management, avoid alcohol/tobacco/drugs, drink water). Be as creative as possible. Door decorations must be consistent with school rules and policy.

4-H clubs will submit their entry (1) by emailing a picture of the door to Lisa Benoit (lbenoit@agcenter.lsu.edu) by Friday, February 19, 2021. Winners will be chosen on the parish level.

4-H Record Book Time

Four-H Record Books are due at your March 4-H meeting or the Extension Office, Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

4th, 5th, & 6th Grades: 4-H members are to turn in their project books. If you have more than one project, put your books in a binder that will keep them together. Put your name, grade and school on the outside cover of your project book. Be sure to complete as many pages as you can. The story page is most important.
