Have you seen the new signs advertising the St. Francisville Farmers’ Market? Three “sandwich” signs were purchased as part of a Healthy Communities Mini Grant from the LSU AgCenter. Nutrition and Community Health Area Agent, Layne Langley worked with Market Manager, Faye Ritchie, and LSU AgCenter Horticulture Agent, Jessie Hoover to apply for the funding. The signs not only promote the market but also notify the public when the market is open.
The St. Francisville Farmers Market operates weekly in an open-air barn off Wilcox Street in St. Francisville. Vendors sell their locally grown/sourced foods every Thursday from 9am-1pm.According to Kathryn E. “Betsy” Jones, “the variety of products at this market is exceptional. It includes everything from the traditional seasonal vegetables, flowers, fresh eggs and cracklings, to canned pickles, jellies and salad dressings and a wide variety of delicious homemade foods and sweets.”
Mark your calenda for every Thursday from 9am-1pm to visit the St. Francisville Farmers Market and follow the St. Francisville Farmers’ Market Facebook Page for updates on the goods available each week! For more information on the market or how to become a vendor, contact Market Manager, Faye Ritchie at 225-245-1752 or at jritchie49@bellsouth.net
