The
Louisiana Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Program is hosting a
Sustainable Agriculture Farm Tour on April 19 to serve as an outreach activity for local sustainable farmers to meet citizens of the area. This will be a one-day tour, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. A map, with details of each of the five farms participating, will be provided so that participants can drive their own vehicles and take the tour at their leisure.
Krishna Paudel, a Louisiana State University agricultural economics and agribusiness professor, is bringing a group of LSU Gamma Sigma Delta members to this farm tour. The LSU group is limited to 15 members, so anyone wanting to participate is asked to contact
Paudel.
Farms participating in the tour include: Luckett Farm in Pride, Louisiana Pride and Feliciana's Best Creamery, both in Slaughter and Port Hudson Organics in Zachary. The fifth and final stop on the tour will be Oakland Plantation in Gurley where
Dinner in the Field will be held. Dinner in the Field begins with a cocktail hour at 4 p.m. featuring live music, cocktails, wine and hors d'oeuvres. A six-course dinner begins at 5 p.m. featuring local foods. Information on costs of the cocktail hour and dinner, including cost, is available on
Eventbrite.
