Diversity Grant Program

Purpose

The Office of the Vice President seeks: to promote a positive climate for diversity and inclusion; to facilitate the development of cultural competency and diversity education; and maintain diversity programming and initiatives to assist in the recruitment and retention of a diverse student body, faculty, staff, and administration. To support these goals, we will provide small grants to faculty, staff, and students to implement projects and/or activities that promote the value of diversity within the AgCenter and/or College of Agriculture. These mini-grants are intended for small-scale initiatives that require quick access to funds. The funds will be a resource for ideas and opportunities that present during the fiscal year and can be executed with short-term planning.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from all LSU College of Agriculture and AgCenter faculty, staff, and departments. Support may be requested for diversity-related projects, campus events, and programs. Students who wish to apply must partner with an LSU AgCenter or College of Agriculture department or office. The department or office must agree to support the fiscal processing of the award.

The Award

The amount of the award will vary, depending on the nature of the project proposed and the number of meritorious applications received. Selected proposals will be awarded up to $2,000 each. Funding must be expended before June 20, 2022.

Submission Procedure and Deadlines

Applications will be reviewed in the Fall and Spring. Submit your application here- Form. Please include:

  • Project Summary (40 words)
  • Proposal (limited to 1,000 words)
  • Budget
  • Letter of partnership or support (if applicable)

Selection Process

A committee will make a recommendation of the proposals to be funded to the Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Opportunity. Proposals will be judged primarily on the following: Soundness of the project design, rationale for the project, feasibility of the project and timeline, qualification of the applicant(s) to complete the proposed project, and the alignment of the proposed project with the stated goals of the Council for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Change and the Strategic Plan. Selected applicants will be notified by October 2021 or February 2022, respective of the application submission date.
