Strategic Focus and Partnerships

Although our global footprint includes all the continents, our strategic emphasis is on widening our engagement in the following global regions.

CENTRAL AMERICA and the CARIBBEAN - historically our primary focus due to proximity, strong partnerships, large number of alumni, as well as extensive development work. Current involvement includes Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.

EASTERN EUROPE - recent strong involvement in all areas: students, faculty, research, training, joint degree programs, agricultural entrepreneurship, and technology transfer. Current involvement includes Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Member of Visegrad University Association.

AFRICA – well established track record of development work, partnerships with universities, collaborative research, NGOs, local governments, as well as a prominent alumni presence. Current involvement includes: Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Swaziland, and Tanzania.

EAST ASIA - newly added focused strategic expansion due to previous project accomplishments, developmental work, new projects and exchanges on all levels – students, faculty, research, joint degree programs, partnerships and wide diaspora presence. Current engagement: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

The LSU AgCenter and the LSU College of Agriculture
