For the fourth year, senior design student collections, in the Department of Textiles, Apparel Design & Merchandising at Louisiana State University, incorporated garments designed and constructed using Grade 3 Louisiana alligator skins, which informed these future fashion industry professionals on the use of a more affordable and sustainable raw material. Sponsored by the Louisiana Alligator Advisory Council through a grant with Lisa McRoberts, Ph.D., and Chuanlan Liu, Ph.D., this competition grants the top three students with monetary awards totaling $500. An additional $225 was awarded for a graduate student’s alligator product design.
