Just a reminder that the Lafourche 4-H program will be validating ALL market animals and commercial animals in 2010 for the 2011 District and State Shows. If you do not get your market or commercial animals validated, you will not be allowed to show. Market hogs must be validated in the exhibitor’s name on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Ag. Building in Raceland, La. The date of the validation will be the possession date for market hogs. The guidelines for validation were in the last newsletter. Remember the cost is $4.00 per animal.
Katie Wilcox must be notified within approximately 48 hours of the end of validation if an unforeseen emergency or act of God has prohibited exhibitor from attending validation. After contacting Ms. Wilcox, hardship forms must be immediately filed with supporting material and stating hardship within one day. The deadline for making notifications and filing hardship for market hogs is Dec. 1, 2010, at 4:30 p.m. for market hogs. Only cases where it is determined to have been unavoidable will the exhibitor be allowed to validate. This decision will be final and not subject to appeal.
Livestock shows are just around the corner and if you haven’t registered your animals with the breed association, it’s time to get this done. Due to a limited travel budget, if you want Ms. Wilcox to make a home visit, call the office at 985-446-1316. The exhibitor’s name must be on the registration papers. This is due when you turn in paperwork on Dec. 10, 2010.
