The contest not only reinforces food safety principals the 4-H'ers learn through 4-H but it also helps them to become familiar with the different commodities we have in Louisiana and different ways to prepare them. While judges tasted and examined dishes, 4-H'ers had the opportunity to go on “The Amazing Nutrition Race” which is an interactive learning experience that takes place at several different stations set up in the Alexandria Mall. 4-H'ers learned about the importance of hand washing in the “Germ Cave” and also about good nutrition and the importance of physical activity.
