Individuals may not be aware of the fact that you can pre-apply for disaster food stamps. Disaster food stamps provide eligible low- to moderate-income households that do not normally receive food stamp benefits with help buying groceries due to lost income or damages following a disaster. Pre-applying does not guarantee benefits but it does get your information logged into the food stamp program which can make getting assistance easier if you should happen to need it. Preapplying is important as you may not have access to the required household and income information following a disaster or evacuation. Here is what you will need in order to pre-apply, visit the website: http://www.dss.louisiana.gov. Click on the disaster food stamp program logo.
Applicants will have to provide the following information:
With the type of stormy spring season we have had and with hurricane season fast approaching, it is wise for us all to be prepared.
