Location: Red River Research Station, Bossier City, Louisiana State University Ag Center, Bossier City, Louisiana.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate for this position will be providing technical support on research projects related to the recycling of tailwater using agricultural return-flows, water quality analysis, and nutrient leaching and run-off from agricultural production fields. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the establishment, and maintenance of field plots, data management, sampling (soil, water, and plant), the completion of laboratory experiments, and writing of manuscripts and reports. The position also will be responsible for supervising students and transient employees. The position also requires some weekend travel and overnight stays to visit experimental sites. Other duties as may be assigned as necessary to complete research projects.
Qualifications: The minimum qualifications include PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Geochemistry, Environmental Science, Water Chemistry, or closely related field. Demonstrated field and laboratory experience. Proficiency in basic statistics, GIS mapping, excellent communication skills, ability, and willingness to learn new technics. Applicants with previous experience with water quality monitoring using automated samplers and sensors, field crop research, runoff simulation models or GIS-based models, and laboratory analysis are preferred. Ability to maintain and operate plot research equipment. The ability to work as part of a team, ability to work independently without supervision and ability to work outside in nonideal environments are highly desired.
