Job Description: The Regional 4-H Coordinator is charged with providing leadership for the 4-H Youth Development program in the assigned Southeast Regional geographic area which covers16 parishes in the state of Louisiana. The Southeast Region is very diverse in geographical area containing the largest urban areas within the state as well as suburban and rural parishes. The position reports administratively to the Regional Director and the Associate Vice-President/4-H Program Leader of the LSU AgCenter. The Regional 4-H Coordinator will assist parish 4-H Youth Development staff through training, coaching, and will support in program development, marketing, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of outcome-based programs. The coordinator will also provide resources for 4-H Youth Development agents and volunteers in order to develop and implement educational programs and will provide leadership and/or assume responsibility for regional events/activities as determined by the needs of agents, clientele, and/or the Regional Director. The Regional 4-H Coordinator will have approximately a twenty percent responsibility to the state faculty in the areas of state-wide programming, professional development, and event assistance. The position will also work with parish agents to provide regional junior and junior high camping, and leadership programs/opportunities. Additionally, the prospective coordinator will collaborate with parish chairs in their joint responsibility for evaluating performance of 4-H agents including making promotion and specialization recommendations to the regional director.

Qualification Requirements: At least five years of Extension experience is required. County or parish level Extension 4-H Youth Development experience for at least three years is preferred. A minimum of a master’s degree, with an overall GPA of at least 3.0, in education, vocational education, youth development, agriculture education, agriculture leadership, family and consumer sciences or closely related field is required, a Ph.D. or youth development specialization is preferred. Must be highly motivated and self-directed, able to work both independently and collaboratively and must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to meet travel requirements for this position. Prior years of experience in teaching and leadership development to youth and adults is desirable. The ability to work with others and through others, as well as cope with change is a highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. Conditions of Employment: A personal automobile and appropriate insurance coverage is required (travel allowance provided). Satisfactory completion of one specific graduate level extension courses (3 credit hours) is generally required in the first 2 years of employment.
