Research Associate - Iberville Parish - R00064942

Work Location: Audubon Sugar Institute, LSU Agricultural Center, St. Gabriel, Louisiana.

Responsibilities: The Research Associate (RA) will be responsible for assisting Dr. Anurag Mandalika with his research efforts in improving sugarcane processing and will be involved in:

(i) researching utilization of byproducts from sugarcane processing,

(ii) visiting raw sugar factories during the processing season (October through January),

(iii) working with sugarcane factory operators in understanding their operational challenges, and

(iv) installing and testing sensors for process monitoring.

The focus of Dr. Mandalika’s research is centered on conceptualizing sustainable and resilient sugarcane biorefineries of the future by the incorporation of smart sensor networks, long-term data collection, automation, and valorization of byproducts and related conversion technologies. We have a well-equipped lab and analytical facilities, and the candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research at the lab/field and modeling environments.

Required Qualifications: A Baccalaureate degree in agriculture, engineering or the life sciences.
