Work Location: Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, LA.

Job Description: The Field Crop Pathology Lab at Louisiana State University is recruiting a Research Associate. The primary responsibility will be to assist with planning, coordinating, and executing field experiments on plant disease epidemiology and management. The individual is also expected to assist the PI it tasks that will ensure the smooth functioning of the lab and assist with greenhouse and lab experiments as needed. Job activities may be physically demanding and primary tasks would include, but are not limited to, setting up fungicide trials, data/sample collection, disease rating, conducting inoculation experiments, isolation and storage of pathogens etc. The individual will have the opportunity to participate in scientific meetings and contribute to writing manuscripts.

Qualifications: BS/MS in plant pathology, or related field. Preferred qualifications include experience working with soybean or other field crops, conducting pesticide applications, conducting small plot experiments, operating farm equipment, and basic plant pathology lab skills. Individual is expected to be a fast learner, with good communication skills, and have a collaborative nature. A valid Louisiana State driver’s license and ability to drive is required at the time of appointment or soon thereafter.
