Location: The LSU Agricultural Center is a statewide organization with offices in every parish of Louisiana. The administrative headquarters, including the Human Resource Management Office, are located in Baton Rouge.

About the LSU Agricultural Center: The LSU AgCenter is one of eight campuses within the broader LSU enterprise (LSU System). The LSU AgCenter includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts agricultural-based research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge derived from research to the people of the state. The AgCenter is headquartered in Baton Rouge and has 12 “on campus” academic departments and five regions which are made up of 16 branch research stations and an extension office in each parish. Many AgCenter faculty hold joint appointments with the College of Agriculture so coordination is important.

Position Description: The Human Resource Staff Specialist serves as the primary resource for academic and unclassified employees on employment matters. The incumbent of this position manages employee maintenance and a broad range of changes including but not limited to continuations, academic appointments, compensation changes, terminations/retirements, ad-hoc additional payments, job changes, emeritus appointments, alternate appointments, 9-month fiscal appointments, sabbatical leave requests and honorifics. This position is responsible for all unclassified and faculty pay and policy questions and administration and ensures that appropriate documentation is maintained in Workday on each action taken.

The HR Specialist serves as the lead contact for employee evaluation systems. Updates and maintains evaluation systems and records; ensures compliance in accord with AgCenter policy. Assists with administrative and data management regarding annual faculty promotion and tenure process.

Completes projects and research on matters related to regular job duties and assists other HR staff members on projects or large assignments as requested. Provides training during biannual meetings with statewide staff. Maintains working knowledge of relevant employment laws, regulations, and programs to ensure that information shared with employees is accurate and complete.

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to the duties of the position and 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or closely related field. Experience in working with various key stakeholders. Must be able to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and action plans. Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities required.

Excellent interpersonal skills to work with employees at all levels: exempt and non-exempt and at all locations, statewide. Superior oral and written communication skills with prior experience delivering information to broad and diverse audiences. Preferred: Workday experience; higher education experience; advanced degree.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
