Postdoctoral Researcher - East Baton Rouge Parish - R00066004

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position, for one year. Extension of appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and satisfactory job performance)

Work Location: School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Responsibilities: The Sugarcane Genetics Laboratory of the School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate (RA) to conduct research integrating statistical/quantitative genetics with multitude of phenotypic and NGS data generated with germplasm resources within breeding program(s) to identify casual variants controlling desired traits and develop analytical models for marker-assisted selection and multi-variate genomic prediction. The overarching goal is to study genotype/trait-environment interactions and design genomic selection enabled alternative breeding strategies to evaluate and increase estimated genetic gain in variety development program.

Qualification Requirements: Candidates with a Ph. D. in plant breeding, genetics, or other related field with documented experience in applications of quantitative/statistical genetics in QTL (GWAS) analysis and genomic selection are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate must have expertise in handling statistics/bioinformatics packages (R, Python etc.) and genomics software for analysis of large multiple layers of genomic, phenotypic, and environmental datasets. Applicants should be self-motivated to work independently and be a good team member. The candidate will be required to document research results through publications and conference presentations.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
