(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 04/01/27. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)
Work Location: This position will be housed in the Department of Entomology, Life Sciences Building, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA.
Position Description: The individual in this position will be charged with administering and performing outreach- and extension-related activities for an USDA-NIFA (Sustainable Agricultural Systems) grant entitled “Climate Resilient Innovations for Sustainable Production of RICE (CRISP-RICE)”. Duties may include building and maintaining a website for the grant, coordinating with the existing rice verification program to incorporate grant-related innovations into the verification program, developing a “rice production school” to extend results from the grant to growers and county agents, assisting with incorporation of grant-generated data into rice enterprise budgets, developing educational materials, communicating with rice growers to coordinate off-station trials, and assisting with summer workshops and internships for high school students and teachers. Supervision of student employees and in-state travel will be required.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in plant science, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology, or related discipline is required. A master’s degree is desired. Strong communication and organizational skills are required. Experience in rice production, extension and outreach, and web design/maintenance preferred.
