All 4-H members are invited to join for the first contest day of the year, 2020 4-H Fall Fest! Fall Fest will be held virtually and entries are due on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at noon. While 76 percent of teens ages 15-17 are confident they fully understand the financial responsibilities of owning a car, 85 percent of parents with 15-17-year-old teenagers disagree. This discord may lie in the fact that 86 percent of teens feel that parents should help them with automobile expenses such as insurance, repairs and gas, while 91 percent of parents believe assistance is unreasonable.

Validation will consist of ear tagging the animal and pulling a hair sample for DNA Testing.
August 1, 2020:All Market Steers must be validated by the exhibitor and the properly identified validation envelope including the hair sample must be submitted to the 4-H Office along with the validation fees of $7 per animal.
November 6, 2020: All Commercial Beef Heifers, Commercial Dairy Heifers, Commercial Ewes, Commercial Does, Market Lambs, and Market Goats must be validated by the exhibitor and the properly identified validation envelope including the hair sample must be submitted to the 4-H Office along with the validation fees of $7 per animal.

Anyone not raising their animals on their property (home or farm) MUST contact the 4-H Office to request a possession hardship application. Completed hardship forms must be turned in to the 4-H Office by the animal’s possession date.
Youth who are 9 years old prior to January 1, 2021 are eligible to participate in the shooting sports program. 4-H members who plan to participate in the shooting sports program must select the Louisiana Shooting Sports project in the outdoor skills/shooting sports area on their enrollment card. If you select the Louisiana Shooting Sports project, you will be contacted by mail about the registration process, fees, future workshops, trainings, practices, and safety clinics.
Project books will not be distributed until the first shooting sports workshop, which will be announced at a later date.
**Please note that there are extra fees and requirements for those involved in the Shooting Sports program. Adult support is required. An adult must attend all events with youth.

If you are one of the first 5 members of your club to email the correct answer to us, along with your full name, school you attend and your grade level, you will receive a prize at your next club meeting. Remember, your answer must be correct!

Looking for a greater 4-H experience? Join the Jr. Leader Club to become more active in 4-H and in your community. Fill out the Junior Leader Membership Form and submit your $10 dues to the St. Martin Parish Office.
The Jr. Leader Club is a group of St. Martin Parish 4-H members who gather once a month and do fun things. We also like to volunteer at different events, learn new things, help the community, and go on trips! We hope to see you at our next meeting! All 4-H’ers in 7th-12th grades are welcome. Dues for this club are $10. If you haven’t paid your dues, please do so as soon as possible.
The next meeting will take place on Monday, November 30th at 5:00 p.m.

Did you know what you eat effects your teeth? Eating fresh fruits and vegetables help protect teeth from developing cavities. Calcium-rich foods helps promote strong teeth and bones. You can find calcium in foods like low-fat milk, cheese and yogurt, almonds, dark leafy green vegetables, and canned salmon.
1. Blend the beans and garlic in a blender, adding enough water for the desired consistency.
2. Blend for 2 minutes to make it silky smooth.
3. Use a spatula to scrape the mixture into a medium bowl.
4. Stir in the yogurt, cayenne, chives, parsley, and tarragon, salt and lemon juice.

The St. Martin Parish 4-H Foundation is hosting an annual fundraiser and will be selling both sweet potatoes and pecans. Proceeds from this sale will benefit the St. Martin Parish 4-H Program. The sweet potatoes are Louisiana grown on Garber Farms in Iota. The pecans are from Pointe Coupee Pecan Company. Orders are due to the St. Martin Parish 4-H Office by November 10th. Pick-up for the items ordered will take place on November 24th from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Breaux Bridge High School Barn, near the football field.
