The deadline to submit record books to the 4-H office for competition is April 15th. Remember, record books consist of your completed activity guide and/or project book along with your completed portfolio! Access the electronic portfolio here. Remember, portfolios can be added to from year to year and can consist of up to 3 years of work! Remember to add pictures with captions of you completing projects and activities in your project area for a more complete portfolio! Ribbons and certificates do not need to be included. March 13th-15th @ Camp Grant Walker!! If you are 14 years or older and are interested in increasing your leadership skills, service learning, teamwork and networking with other 4-Hers from across the state then this is the camp for you!This year’s theme is “JLC Under the Big Top”. JLC has different tracks to appeal to your interest, whether you choose STEAM, Citizenship, Animal Science, Wetlands, or Healthy Living, there is sure to be something you will enjoy! Cost is $90.00 and deadline for early registration is February 6th. Feb 17th is late registration deadline.
Seniors, there are lots of scholarships out there for you through 4-H! Some are awarded locally, others through the state 4-H office and other entities! Be sure you are in contact with the 4-H Office, so you are not missing out on these opportunities! We have money that we want to give away!!! The state 4-H scholarship application has been emailed to all seniors. At least one person from Ascension will receive this scholarship! Deadline to enter this scholarship is February 21. Contact the office for other scholarship applications of you have not already received them!

Any 4-Her in 8th-12th Grades, along with their parents, are invited to attend a 4-H University Informational meeting on March 25th, 6:00pm at the 4-H Office! 4-H University is a summer camp hosted on the LSU campus where students get to experience college life and compete for the chance to win free trips! 4-Hers from across Louisiana come to 4-H U to compete in their choice of over 40 competitions or attend clover college. To find out what contests are offered, for general information, or to sign up for 4-H University, please attend the meeting on March 25th! This year’s 4-H University will be held June 23-26!
“Get Hooked on 4-H Camp” at Camp Grant Walker July 6th-10th! Ascension 4-H will hold a mandatory informational meeting March 11, 6pm at the 4-H Office! Please be sure to attend if you would like your child's name on the list to attend summer camp and if you would like information on this grand adventure! Summer Camp is open to youth in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. A $50.00 deposit will be collected at this meeting to hold your child’s summer camp spot. Depending on number of students interested, a lottery may be used to select attendees.
Stop by Raising Cane’s on Airline in Gonzales or Prairieville on March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day!) from 11:00am until closing to help “Raise A Little Green for 4-H.” Be sure to mention Ascension 4-H at the register for Ascension 4-H to receive 15% of the location’s profits from that night! Come on out for the Mardi Gras Masquerade Fashion Show on Thursday, Feb 20, 6pm at the 4-H Office! Those 4-Hers who participated in the Dress Review (Sew with Cotton) or Ready to Wear Demo Day Competitions at Demo Day will be modeling their garments! In addition, if you make a Mardi Gras shirt following the guidelines below, you can also practice your walk up the run way during the Fashion Show! It is free to participate! Come on out!
