Get Hooked on 4-H Camp

Summer Camp Registration is just around the corner for 4-Hers 4th, 5th, & 6th grades! Get on the Summer Camp bus for a week full of adventure and make some life long friends! Camp will be held June 8th-12th. Camp cost will be $200. A $50 deposit will be due on April 17th. The remaining balance will be due by May 18th. More info will be sent out at a later date. JLC Under the Big Top

Come join the Junior Leaders for camp March 13-15,2020 at Camp Grant Walker. For ages 14 and older. Cost of camp is $90. Due to the LSU AgCenter by February 20,2020. Tracks will include Ag on the Tight Rope: Learn about livestock, ag careers , and food safety. Fit for the Show: Join us in making healthy decisions and a weekend of Food and Fun! Citizenship/Government: Learn about government and all its ins and outs. Listen to guest speakers, write your own bill! S.T.E.A.M: Get ready to create the world’s tallest man and direct movies straight from the circus!

Velvet Bennett Roberts Agriculture Photo Contest

Get your photos turned in to the LSU AgCenter by February 14,2020! All photos become property of the Union Parish Youth Livestock Council and will not be returned. Winning photos will be placed in a silent auction during the Banquet and proceeds will continue to support this photography contest. 2020 LBIC Beef Poster Contest Theme: Better with Beef

  • Posters must be on “22X28” poster board only.
  • Place your Name, Address, Age, Grade in School and Parish/Chapter on back, right upper corner of poster.
  • Digital entries must be designed using one of the following programs: Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva. Digital designs should be formatted for “22X28” poster size prints. All digital entries must be saved in high‐resolution 300 DPI in ALL of the following: original design file, png. File format, and .pdf file format. Digital designs should be saved to a blank jump drive, placed in a 3 1/2X6 blank envelope labeled with Name, Address, Age, Grade in School, and Parish/Chapter on the front.
  • Posters and digital designs should generate positive images and promotion of beef (not live cattle production) using the indicated theme. Posters should promote beef without projecting any negative messages towards other agricultural commodities (chicken, pork, etc.)
  • Do not use copyrighted materials. You may develop ideas from magazines, parents, friends, nutrition bulletins, Beef Ambassador Fact Sheets and meat publications but the end concept should be original.
  • No templates may be used in the digital division. All design work must be original and from scratch.
  • Pictures, clip‐art and materials that are copyrighted will be disqualified.

Division I: 4th‐6th grades

Division II: 7th‐9th grades

Division III Poster: 10th‐12th grades

Division III Digital –10th‐12th grades

Division III competitors must choose to compete in either the poster OR digital competition. Participants cannot participate in both.

4farm Animals for 4-H Poster Contest

Entries due March 23 to the 4-H Office. Guidelines are as follow:

  • Use a 14”x 17” piece of sketch paper.
  • Crayons or colored pencils only.
  • Be creative & incorporate 4 different farm animals of your choice and a 4-H clover.
  • Include name, grade, & school on back left corner.

The picture will be framed and hung at the 4-H office.

4-H Outdoor Grilling Workshop!

Come join us on Saturday, February 29,2020 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for a new workshop with a local Grill Master on how to grill, grilling safety tips, and food safety! It will be open for all 4-H’ers in grades 4th-12th . Seating is limited so call and reserve your spot by February 21st! If you have any questions, please contact our office at 318-368-9935.
