Roasted Walnut & Basil Pesto

Basil-based sauce that originated in Genoa, Italy. It also contains garlic, olive oil, and a hard cheese, such as Parmesan & traditionally pine nuts. We used walnuts in ours, but a really great substitute would be Louisiana pecans!

Roasted Walnut & Basil Pesto:

1. Toast unpeeled garlic cloves & walnuts in small skillet. Remove and peel garlic.

2. Put in food processor.

3. Add basil, cheese, and olive oil.

4. Blend until smooth - season with salt & pepper. Add white pepper and/or red pepper flakes, if desired. Transfer to bowl and stir.

6 cloves garlic

1/2 cup walnuts

4 cups fresh basil, packed

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated or shredded)

1 cup extra virgin olive oil

Salt & Pepper, to taste

Ground white pepper and/or red pepper flakes, if desired.

Why did we list the method before the ingredients???

Because reading the instructions in the recipe is VERY important!

Read through your list of ingredients and the instructions first. Then, gather you ingredients and follow the steps in the recipe carefully.
