Joining 4-H

In 4-H, we believe in the power of young people. We see that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us. Our program provides experiences where young people learn by doing. For more than 100 years, 4-H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and background, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.

In 4-H programs, kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagements in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Youth experience 4-H in every parish in school and after school programs, school and community clubs and 4-H camps.

Enrolling in your school club or enrolling at the 4-H office, what’s the difference?

Enrolling at your school club: This is the most beneficial for 4-H members. The biggest perk of being part of your school club is a monthly 4-H Meeting to hear about what is going on in 4-H this month and upcoming months, reminders, ask questions, and receive your monthly newsletter and all handouts. Being part of your school club also gives each member an opportunity to run for a club office! Each year, a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Reporter are chosen as that year’s club officers. Some school clubs also offer awards or advantages through-out the year. To enroll in your school 4-H Club please turn in your completed enrollment card (must have valid e-mail address to approve enrollment) and payment to your school by October 28th!

Enrolling as a Member at Large at the 4-H Office: We offer this option for our 4-H Members for several reasons, those who are homeschooled, who are a resident of Evangeline Parish but attend school in a different parish, or those that have missed the October 29th deadline to enroll at school. A member at large can participate in everything offered by the 4-H Club. The difference is that you may not be able to attend your monthly 4-H Meeting at school and all newsletters and/or handouts will be mailed to you. For our homeschool club, we do offer a monthly 4-H Meeting at our office.

Whichever is best for you, we are glad to have you as a part of the Evangeline Parish 4-H Club. Click below to enroll today!
