Out of an abundance of caution related to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, the LSU AgCenter Ascension Parish has postponed the application release for the 2020 Ascension Master Gardener Class. Any adult with a willingness to learn and a desire to help others can become an Ascension Master Gardener. Master Gardeners should be interested in horticulture, willing to help people, outgoing, flexible, dependable, unbiased and open-minded. Master Gardener training is tailored for beginning and experienced gardeners and includes topics on soil, plants, and pest management. The course curriculum is composed of approximately 40 hours of instruction that will be taught through lectures, online videos, hands-on labs, and field trips.
Class is set to begin on on August 18th and will run through the beginning of October. The majority of classes will be held on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in Gonzales. A fee of $175.00 is assessed each participant.
