As graduation approaches, Louisiana 4-H would like to recognize our senior 4-H members through a Senior Salute video. Please email a picture of your senior, along with his/her first & last name, & high school to email@example.com by Tuesday, April 20.
The Louisiana Executive Board selected the theme “Whatever It Takes” for our 2021 4-H University. This theme could not be truer, as it is the shared goal of our 4-H faculty, agents, & youth to make 4-H University happen in 2021! 4-H University is open to 4-H’ers ages 13-18.

Hurricane donations are still desperately needed! Some of the most needed items are: bottled waters, canned foods, paper plates, plastic forks/spoons, paper towels, & garbage bags. Please drop your donations to the 4-H office, 704 Cypress Street, West Monroe. This event will be ongoing for the time being. We will announce an end date at a later time. When dropping donations, please leave your name and /or school name, approximate number of people who helped with the donations, & phone number. Thanking you in advance!
If you are in 7th grade or above, you may join the Ouachita 4-H Jr. Leader Club. The April meeting will be held Thursday, April 29 in the 4-H auditorium, 704 Cypress Street in West Monroe, from 4-5 p.m. For your protection, we will be following social distancing guidelines. Bring a friend!
Promote the dairy industry by drawing a billboard encouraging or promoting the consumption of milk and/or milk products & their importance for health. Entries are due to the Ouachita 4-H office by Wednesday, April 14, 2021.If you are in a school club, please turn posters into your club leader by April 14, 2021. For rules, prizes, & divisions, see last month’s 4-H newsletter.

Our 4-H 2020-2021 Programming Focus is Recycling & Environmental Stewardship. The West Monroe Recycling Center is a free drop-off facility for the general public, despite where they may live. The Recycling Center is open on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. & is located directly behind the Police Department at 409 Lincoln Street in West Monroe. Accepted items include: Plastics No. 1 & No. 2, cardboard, paper (newspaper & copy paper), aluminum & metal cans. Please rinse all cans & plastic jugs. No glass or Styrofoam! Ouachita 4-H’ers in grades 4-6, mark your calendars! The Traveling Road Show Day Camp will be coming to a location near you on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Ouachita, Lincoln, & Union Parishes will be teaming up for a fun-filled day camp. The cost will be $25 per camper. Details will be available soon on the Ouachita 4-H Facebook Page!
Buy a paper clover for $1 at your local Tractor Supply from April 28 – May 9 & you will help to support your local 4-H. The local store in Ouachita Parish is at 201 Mane Street in West Monroe!
Registration for the 2021 Virtual 4-H Day at the Capitol is here! Register for the event by May 1 in order to guarantee receipt of the “Day at the Capitol in a Box” Kit* at no cost. After May 1, the “Day at the Capitol in a Box” Kits will only be provided while supplies last. Register Here for Virtual 4-H Day at the Capitol. All streaming times & opportunities for engagement will be announced at a later date.
*The Day at the Capitol kit may include some of the following items: An event mask, Government related activity sheets, thank you cards, how to thank your legislator instructions, 10 ways to serve, 3 branches of Government activity, and an activity with supplies to complete on May 26, 2021.
