This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 12/31/2022. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.
Work Location: H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, LSU AgCenter, Crowley, La.
Job Description: Responsibility of working under the direction of a project leader doing research on rice breeding and genetics. The duties will include greenhouse, laboratory, and fieldwork. The position will involve managing plants in the greenhouse, data collection, record keeping, conducting grain quality analysis, and the use of research equipment in a rice breeding program. This position will occasionally require working outside the standard workday to complete time tasks. Occasional travel may be necessary to field sites across Louisiana and to winter nursery in Puerto Rico. The position may include responsibility for supervision of certain personnel.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pest Management, Geology, Soil Science, other agricultural curriculums or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Other degrees may be accepted with experience or education related to job duties. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn software programs required. Experience with field and/or greenhouse research and plant breeding is desired.
