Job Description: The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business at Louisiana State University (LSU) and LSU Agricultural Center is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position to work on issues related to environmental and natural resource economics. The successful candidate will contribute to developing economic models for water quality and water quantity in Louisiana. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of Drs. Krishna P. Paudel and Lawson Connor.
The successful candidate will work with Drs. Paudel and Connor to develop water quality and water quantity models. The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with groundwater and industrial engineers. The candidate should have skills to present economic findings in stakeholder workshops within the state as well as lead and co-author multiple publications in top disciplinary and interdisciplinary journals. The candidate is also encouraged to participate in professional conferences and meetings and seek other professional development opportunities. This position also involves opportunities to work with graduate students.
Qualification Requirements: A Ph.D. in Applied/Agricultural Economics, Economics, or related field completed by December 2020 is required. Specialization in environmental and natural resource economics or closely related fields, strong analytical and quantitative skills related to environmental and natural resource economics and strong oral and written communication skills are also required. Experience formulating survey questionnaires and survey data analysis, experience analyzing water quality and water quantity data, experience with at least one of the following: (a) groundwater availability modeling (GAM) software b) surface water quality modeling using SWAT, experience with ArcGIS and MATLAB/Mathematica, and experience with R, Stata, or similar software is desired.
