Data Analyst

Work Location: Knapp Hall, LSU Campus, Baton Rouge, LA

Position Description: The LSU AgCenter is seeking an experienced data integration developer who can provide organization-wide technical and development expertise. This is a technical role requiring initiative, independence and drive, an ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and an ability to perform a wide variety of duties. As a data integration developer, the role will be assigned to critical projects requiring attention to detail and the ability to find technical solutions to complex business problems.

Primary responsibilities include: Design and develop ETL and data processing solutions using data integration tools, python scripts and cloud-based services. Develop technical data processing specifications. Design, develop, test, implement, and support optimal data solutions. Document data mappings, data dictionaries, processes, programs and solutions as per established standards for data governance. Integrate development with existing projects to maximize object reuse. Create, execute, and document unit test plans for ETL and data integration processes and programs. Work with cross-departmental teams such as analytics and engineering to assess and troubleshoot potential data quality issues at key intake points such as validating control totals at intake and then upon transformation, and transparently build lessons learned into future data quality assessments. Perform problem assessment, resolution and documentation in existing data processes, mapping and workflows in production. Troubleshoot data issues and defects to determine root cause. Performance tune databases, processes and SQL queries, and recommend and implement data process optimization and query tuning techniques. Develop and create transformation queries, views, and stored procedures for ETL processes and process automations. Consult with infrastructure team to make recommendations on database settings and structure. Adhere to information security and privacy requirements.

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. 2+ years of experience development in SQL. Strong communications skills and command of the English language. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision. Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail. Ability to quickly adapt to changes in both technology and business environments. Strong customer service and positive attitude. Experience with source control and change management processes.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant field. Expertise in developing complex, legible and well-structured scripts and queries in SQL. 2+ years of experience as an ETL developer with strong data architecture knowledge around data warehousing concepts, SQL development and optimization, and operational support models. 5+ years of experience development in SQL which was primarily in a Microsoft environment. Experience working with large data repositories and/or relational databases. Experience with ETL tools and frameworks such as Azure Data Factory or AWS Glue. ITIL v3 or v4 certification. Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment technologies.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
