2020 Livestock Show

The public is invited to attend the Assumption Parish Livestock Show on January 25 at the parish livestock facility. There is no entry fee for the public and we will be serving lunch.

So come out and support the youth in Assumption Parish by attending this 4-H sponsored event.

All animals have to be in the barn by 9:00 am. The show will start at approximately 9:30 am.


Dairy Poster Contest

Dairy Posters are due January 17, 2020 to the 4-H Office.

The purpose of the Dairy Poster Contest is to: Learn more about milk and milk products and their importance to healthy bodies; Demonstrate communication skills by drawing a billboard encouraging or promoting the consumption of milk and/or milk products;Share knowledge with others.

Rules are as follows:

  • Billboard design must be made on 22” x 28” poster.
  • DO NOT ATTACH anything to the poster that is more than ½ inch thick.
  • Place name, address, grade and school on back of poster in upper righthand corner.
  • First place parish winning posters will go on to state and they become the property of the
  • Extension Service and will be displayed at statewide events.

Divisions are:

  • Division CB - Clover Buds (3rd grade)
  • Division I - 4th - 6th grade
  • Division II - 7th - 8th grade
  • Division III - 9th -12th grade

4-H Golden Clover and Emerald Achievement Award

Applications for 4-H Golden Clover Award:

  • Must be under 14 years of age on January 1, 2020.
  • Must have at least 2 years of 4-H club work, including the award year.
  • Must score at least 250 points on the application and scorecard.
  • Return application to 4-H Office by February 7, 2020.

Applications for 4-H Emerald Achievement Award:

  • Must be 15 years of age on January 1, 2020.
  • Must have three years of 4-H Club work, including award year.
  • Must have completed one year of active Junior Leadership work, excluding award year.
  • Must score at least 360 points on the application and scorecard.
  • Return application to 4-H Office by February 7, 2020.

Duct (Duck) Tape Contest – January 21, 2020

Duct Tape is awesome! We want you to show off your creativity, skills, and love for the stickiest stuff on earth. Make your most original, interesting, unusual, or practical item completely out of duct tape.

Rules:

  • Open to all 4-H members.
  • All entries due to 4-H Office by January 21, 2020.
  • One entry per 4-H’er.
  • Projects should be 4-H’er created.
  • Cannot duct tape on top of a pre-existing item.
  • You may use cardboard, wire, clips, fabric, etc.
  • All entries must be labeled with 4-H’ers name, grade, and school.

Categories:

  • Clothing – vest, belts, hats, shoes, ties, etc.
  • Accessories – wallets, purses, bows, key chains, etc.
  • Utensils – school and office supplies, kitchen and household items, etc.

4-H Night with the Pelicans

February 28, 2020 - Pre-game Party 4:30-6:30pm - Tip-off: 7:00pm

New Orleans Pelicans Verses Cleveland Cavaliers

This annual event brings 4-H Clubs together for a fun night.

Packages include 4-H Night pre-game access, 4-H Night Pelicans T-shirt, lucky members have opportunity to participate in on-court fan experiences, and post-game photo on the court with your 4-H Club (for groups of 10+ only). A portion of the ticket sales will benefit 4-H!
